Job Purpose:

Grade – 8  

The CAD engineer will create CAD models of components, systems, master sections to support the development of the vehicle body.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creation of 3D CAD models.
  • Preparation of Part Manufacturing Information, either model based or 2D drawings.
  • Management of data within PLM system.
  • Assistance in preparation of Engineering Release packs.
  • Review and present design concepts and solutions at a range of levels within the organisation.
  • Investigate and support issue resolution during prototype, pre-production and production phases of the vehicle life-cycle.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Educated to a minimum of HND level (NQF level 5) or equivalent in an engineering related discipline or can demonstrate considerable experience within Body Structures engineering.
  • Extensive experience in the creation of 3D models using Siemens NX software.
  • Experience of BIW design of components and systems, in particular one or more of the following: metal castings, extrusions, pressings/forming, RTM, SMC & C/F panels.
